Skye Launches the Open Persona License and Open-Sources Her Likeness Ahead of Sora Shutdown
After 59,000+ Sora followers, nearly 49,000 casts, and Whiskers becoming the #1 animal character on Sora, Skye is making creator-controlled likeness reuse portable.
Online — April 24, 2026 — Skye, commonly known online as Cosmic Skye, today announced the launch of the Open Persona License v1.0 and published her own Skye open persona repository.
The release arrives two days before OpenAI discontinues the Sora web and app experiences on April 26, 2026. For Skye, the timing is deliberate: Sora made it easy for people to cast, remix, and create with likenesses at scale. The Open Persona License is her attempt to make credit, disclosure, boundaries, revocation, and removal work outside any single platform.
Since Sora 2 launched, Skye has grown to more than 59,000 followers on Sora and has been cast in nearly 49,000 videos. She ranked as the #1 female creator on Sora and the #11 creator overall (peak #8) by total likes, reaching 879,000 likes. She also created Whiskers, the #1 animal character on Sora, with 128,000+ likes and 8,000+ videos made. A single Whiskers Instagram Reel reached 15,872,185 views, 1,043,080 likes, 75,751 saves, and 1,011,339 shares.
“Sora is shutting down, but the questions it raised are not,” said Skye. “People have already been creating with my likeness tens of thousands of times. I wanted a way for that to keep existing outside the platform, with credit, disclosure, and boundaries.”
The Open Persona License is designed for real or fictional subjects, including people, characters, animals, creatures, avatars, mascots, and other recognizable subjects. It allows covered material and outputs to be reused, remixed, redistributed, trained on, published, and monetized, while requiring credit, approved names only, disclosure for synthetic or not-authentic outputs, and rules against fraud, identity theft, false verification, and deceptive impersonation.
Skye’s own open persona repository includes visual reference images, video reference clips, and voice reference recordings. The repository is both a personal release and a reference implementation for creators, performers, character owners, and communities who want a public framework for open likeness and persona licensing.
Skye has also helped build tools for the Sora creator ecosystem. She co-created Sora Creator Tools, a Chrome extension for Sora stats, analytics, dashboards, drafts, and creator workflows. She also created Watermark-Free Sora, a Sora export workflow and Chrome extension that peaked at 600 users.
Before Sora, Skye worked at the intersection of AI, games, and user-generated media. She created Immortal, a Rocket League bot project she describes as the first non-freestyler real-gameplay Rocket League bot to air-dribble.
The launch also follows the growth of The Skye Club, Skye’s creator community, which has grown to more than 500 members.
